Painted wall shop sign Rochester Row London

Painted wall shop sign Rochester Row London

This is painted onto the wall of a shop that most probably would have been a hardware shop, selling parafin and oil lamps.I’m guessing that the building would be from the 1900s.You can also see the Salvation Army building dated 1908.This building is still in use, doing exactly the same thing as it would have been doing 100 years ago…..providing for the destitute of the parish.Ironic isn’t it, that 100 years down the line nothing much has changed. There are a lot of homeless in the Victoria area and the queue for breakfast in the morning and for a bed at night has to be seen to be believed, especially in the winter.
